Greetings from Nicaragua

School

Hope you are all well over there, we have just had a board meeting for CCA so I wanted to fill you in while things are still fresh, by the way we just had an earth quake here in Carazo and it was strong for this area, I’m glad we are putting all that steel in the construction!

Our school is now run on a board of directors system, Susana and I have only 40% power and influence, it is a great feeling! Things are getting too big for the two of us and that is exciting to see.

The new class rooms are almost ready, should be able to move children into them in a month, second grade are in the future bathrooms at present next to the office!

We have some Great 1st timers in Preschool, this year we were able to have more Christian families to come so the balence is changing.

Teachers/Roles

Joel and April are from the United States: April is a homeschool teacher and Joel an ex-teacher in the US is Principal of CCA. Mary from Korea is music teacher, and in charge of curriculm and pre school teacher issues and training.

Susana is director of finances and I am director of construction with special interest in the director of finances.

Our teachers are:

• Carolina: Primary grade 2
• Irene: Primary grade 1
• Linda and assistant Evelyn (new teachers): Preschool 1st grade
• Cecibel: PK2 (repeating second time in this grade)
• Isnia: Kinder (moved from 1st Grade)

Linda Has no experience and found the first couple of weeks difficult but we have seen good signs of potential in her. She could be the first teacher we produce from our system from scratch.

We hope Isnia will be head teacher in Preschool one day and that Irene will be head teacher in Primary one day. We also hope that Evelyn will be a teacher next year.

Challenges

We have some challenges:

• Carolina is 2 months pregnant and we have to plan for her absence.
• We are keen to train Evelyn for primary teacher, first by taking some subjects and than classes with Carolina. We plan to have Irene and Carolina as teacher trainers constantly.
• We are looking at possibilities of a new teacher assistant asap and ways of paying for that.

Prayer Points

Could you pray for Susana, she is finding things hard and not able to relax as she should, we are coming out of chaos of first school weeks so I hope it will get better for her. We are praying for an admin person possibly from her mission maybe a few months at a time to come down?

Also she is due to have her check up in Sep/ Oct and is trying to plan this.

Praise Points

The most exciting thing for me to see is the way Joshua & Esther have adapted to homeschooling, mainly because there are fourstudents in the class and they all play together each day. I’m sure sure Joyce’s specific prayers have been a big part of this.

My health is doing OK, still an all rounder but feeling better.
