Postcard from Gloucester – Aug 2011

Thanks for your prayers for our recent trip out to Spain on holiday. It was not relaxed but it was relaxing and we felt it did us all a lot of good and the children had many opportunities to catch up with old friends in Aguilar. We were particularly grateful for safety in travel as we covered well over 3000 miles during the trip without a hitch. As soon as we got back from Spain the kids were straight off to camps. Alex had a fantastic week on the Helter Skelter Scripture Union camp in Brackley, Northamptonshire. Grace was volunteering at Soul Survivor Week B which she really found fulfilling. And Rosie returns tomorrow from eight days under canvas at the Purbeck Adventure camp on the Dorset coast.

Redcliffe is very quiet at the moment but Christine has been pretty busy this week preparing for a week-long IFES Conference which starts this weekend. Also we forgot to mention in our last Postcard that the most recent edition of Vista is now out and it looks at a subject close to our hearts – church planting. If you are interested in reading it you can download it from the Nova blog.

Finally, we were waiting on sending out this latest Postcard until Grace received her A level results. She did extremely well, exceeding her offer and is now looking forward to heading up to the University of Sheffield to read Biomedical Sciences. We are very proud of her. Thanks for your prayers for her not only during these exams but throughout her rather challenging education with numerous changes of school and going back and forth between educational systems. God has been very good to her and us.

Jim and Christine
